

See Folder Protection details here to change this or read more: If the Folder Protection Backup is chosen in OneDrive Settings > Backup Tab, then Documents, Desktop and/or Pictures folders will be moved into the OneDrive folder to sync to OneDrive and (if you want) your other devices. If you want to keep OneDrive as a real time backup, or a way to share your files in the OneDrive folder - or even place your Desktop, Documents and/or Pictures folders in OneDrive to sync - adjust these Settings as desired:

Once the files are all downloaded and it says Sync is Up to Date, open File Explorer and access the OneDrive folder on the left hand Explorer bar, copy the files out or keep the ones you want in there to sync to the cloud or other devices you set up the same way. You will see the files being downloaded on the PC when you hover your mouse or click on the OneDrive icon in the System Tray at the right end of task bar. On the setup screens choose to leave OneDrive folder in it's default location on C:\Users\Your User Name\OneDrive, and to include all files in the folder on the PC. Sign into OneDrive app (built into Windows 10) on the new PC with the same account you used on the old one.
